LinkedIn Search Techniques To Determine Your MBA Goals
In a recent GMAT YouTube live session, Paul Lanzillotti, admissions expert and founder of Amerasia Consulting, gave advice on how to leverage LinkedIn for your MBA Research. He specifically talked about determining realistic goals using LinkedIn and discussing some valuable search techniques (on LinkedIn) you can try to accomplish your MBA research.
Once you are clearer in determining your realistic goals, here are some search techniques on LinkedIn to help you further your MBA research.
Firstly, start on your targeted MBA program’s page (on LinkedIn). Then search for your desired title (e.g., “Product manager”)
Example Search: UCLA Anderson, Product Manager
2. Similarly, you can go to an employer's page (on LinkedIn) and search for an MBA program.

3. Try a "Google Site Search".
• This works well if you don't pay for the more premium version of LinkedIn.
Copy and paste these keywords into Google search:
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intitle:HBS MBA
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intitle:HBS AND "MBA Candidate"|"MBA Student“
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intitle:HBS| intext:"MBA Candidate"|"MBA Student“
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intitle:HBS AND "MBA Candidate" | intext:Amazon.com
Here is a list of LinkedIn profiles with "Stanford GSB" and "Reliance Dhirubhai“
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intext:Stanford GSB AND reliance dhirubhai
In addition to this, it's also a great way to start learning about what you can and want to get involved with at a targeted MBA program.
• site:LinkedIn.com/in intext:HBS AND "HBS Tech Club“
Bottom line:
• Let LinkedIn do the heavy lifting ...
• Ultimately, let current profiles serve as the blueprint for what you want to get involved in during business school. If you're lucky, even a list of relevant electives.
