What Exciting Things Are Happening at HEC Paris in 2023?
MBAT HELD IN PERSON AGAIN
MBAT, also known as the "MBA Olympics," was reintroduced in person last May. HEC Paris intends to organize the gathering in person again this year. This event draws about 1500 MBAs from around the world, from London Business School to ESADE. These students gather to compete, network, and, of course, have a good time. Students participate in 30 activities over three days, including soccer, basketball, rugby, running, ping pong, and ultimate frisbee. It also includes a dance challenge and a battle of the bands, all ending in a black-tie gala. This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties with peers while also connecting with members of rival institutions.

The most recent full-time MBA cohort includes students from 58 different countries, with only 4% being French. Every year, HEC Paris welcomes students from close to 100 different countries. As a result, the school serves as a daily laboratory for managing societal nuances that can cause distrust and conflict. Simultaneously, class structure introduces students to all aspects of an issue or opportunity, assisting in the identification of genuine necessities and best alternatives. Furthermore, this diversity allows MBAs to practice adaptability and empathy, as well as to inquire and listen before concluding and instructing.
INVESTMENT IN STATION F, HEC Incubateur, AND CREATIVE DESTRUCTION LABORATORY CONTINUED
HEC Paris has made significant investments in entrepreneurship, digital development, and social responsibility in recent years and is continuing to do so. This involves a collaboration between the school and Station F, Europe's biggest incubator. It is home to over 1000 companies, including Microsoft and Google facilities. Station F also houses the HEC Incubateur, a space where HEC graduates have nurtured startups that have received over $400 million Euros in financing over the last four years. HEC Paris also established its Creative Destruction Lab two years ago, with the goal of growing companies devoted to combating climate change.

HEC Paris develops leaders and is known as Europe's "Cradle of Leadership." Executives from HEC Paris include Jean-Yves Fillion (BNP Paribas), Oliver Herold (The Oxford Group), and Michel Vounatsos (Biogen). Hubert Joly, the previous Chairman and CEO of Best Buy, also attended HEC Paris. Last year, he established the Joly Family Chair in Purposeful Leadership. This is an effort to promote "responsible and inclusive capitalism," which steers businesses away from short-term financial benefits and toward strategies that promote long-term value in social and environmental settings. This type of programming already accounts for roughly a tenth of the graduate coursework at HEC Paris.
