Johns Hopkins University Has Just Announced a Carey Technology Fellowship Worth $30,000

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School stated two days ago on March 15th, that it will give up to $30,000 in scholarships to employees who have received the pink slip and want to return to school to start an MBA in the fall. “We know how hard it is to face job loss,” Assistant Dean for Admissions Kelly Farmer says in a school news release. “We want to make it easier for professionals to build for what’s next in their careers, and help remove the barriers to their next success.”

Technology is one of the top three sought-after industries at Carey

After consulting and finance, technology is one of the top three sought-after industries for Carey MBA graduates. According to the Carey's MBA Class of 2022 employment report, it ranks third after healthcare and consulting, with seven grads entering the sector (roughly 11% of the class at the small program). Starting salaries range from $137,886 to $160,000 on average. Nine graduates, or about 20% of the class of 44, went into the tech industry in 2021, which matched healthcare as the top location for Carey MBAs. These graduates reported an average salary of $120,375 and a high of $145,000.

The Carey Tech Fellowship open to online and part-time MBA programs

Additionally, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School stated that eligible students may use the Carey Tech Fellowship to complete their MBA program online, part-time, and in a manner that supports both synchronous and asynchronous learning. It also stated that qualified applicants will be exempt from entrance exams and application fees.

Scholarship funds are offered for any of the following MBA specializations: Business Analytics and Risk Management; Digital Marketing; Entrepreneurial Marketing; Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology; Financial Management; Health Care Management, Innovation, and Technology; Investments; and Public and Private Sector Leadership.

Carey Tech Fellowship Requirements

To be qualified for the Carey Tech Fellowship and the entire $30,000 scholarship you must register to begin courses in the fall of 2023 and stay enrolled continuously. You must also include a formal separation letter (with the company name, language confirming the separation was part of a layoff, and the date of separation), your updated resume indicating the separation, and you addressing the separation from your employer specifically in the additional essay section.
